Once complete, the facility will produce 600,000 gallons of LNG per day (~0.34 Mtpa).
Salina Cruz LNG, LLC is developing a small-scale liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering facility and transshipment hub in the Port of Salina Cruz, Oaxaca, Mexico. The project is ideally situated to supply North and Central American bunker, transportation and fuel-to-power markets.
The Salina Cruz LNG terminal is currently under development. Overall, the team anticipates an ~36 month permitting + construction timeline. Construction can begin as early as the second half of 2025, pending all necessary permit approvals, offtake, and financing. First production could be expected by the second half of 2027.
The project design has been optimized to include modular, land-based liquefaction trains and straight-forward mooring and topsides modifications on the newly-expanded breakwater in the Port of Salina Cruz. The project will include an FSU ranging in capacity of 50,000 - 140,000 m3 for LNG storage.
Salina Cruz benefits from access to premium Pacific Basin LNG markets – with the added benefit of no transit through the Panama Canal.
SCLNG is ideally situated to supply the growing North and Central American bunker & fuels markets, including LNG marine fuel deliveries at the Pacific entry of the Panama Canal and into Southern California (the Ports of Long Beach & Los Angeles). The project is also well suited for sales into Central American power and transportation markets.
Salina Cruz offers attractive pricing for Pacific West Coast off-takers, competitive against local bunker and diesel markets as well as US Gulf Coast LNG.
